Night Shift

You are the night shift of a growing IT department. Keep the servers cool and the customers happy, fix incidents before they escalate, and grow from one small server room to a whole data center empire. A relaxed idle management game with real decisions: the game keeps running while you are away, but what you build decides how well it runs.

This is an early beta

Saves may change between versions, numbers are still being tuned, and some things are missing (the 3D floor models are simple blocks for now). Your feedback decides what gets better: tell me in the comments here, or use "Feedback and problems" in the game menu, which can copy a diagnostic report you can paste into your message. The Chinese and Russian translations are machine-assisted and not yet checked by native speakers; corrections are welcome.

What you do

• Run racks of servers and balance income against power, heat and bandwidth.
• Diagnose incidents with timed checks and a findings log, then pick the right fix. A wrong fix makes things worse.
• Answer helpdesk tickets, or let hired staff handle them.
• Sign customer contracts with service level targets, bonuses and penalties.
• Hire staff with traits, train them and watch their fatigue.
• Research better cooling, power, lifespan and income.
• Expand across floors and buildings, and take over the company for permanent bonuses.
• Your servers keep earning while the game is closed (up to eight hours of offline progress).
• Optional side job: a quick helpdesk sprint for extra money.

Details

• Languages: English, German, Chinese (Simplified), Russian (interface only, no voice).
• Accessibility: colour-blind palettes, text size 100 / 115 / 130 %, reduced motion, keyboard focus.
• Controls: mouse; keys 1 to 9 switch rooms, 0 shows the floor, Esc closes dialogs or opens the pause menu, Ctrl+S saves.
• Windows 10 or 11 (64 bit), 2 CPU cores, 2 GB RAM, a graphics card with Vulkan 1.0 or OpenGL 3.3, 300 MB disk space, a screen of at least 1280x720.
• Privacy: the game does not collect or send any personal data. Your save game and settings stay on your computer. The game never uploads anything by itself.

Installing

Download the zip, extract it, and run NightShift.exe. The file is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you: choose "More info", then "Run anyway". The licenses folder contains the licenses of the bundled fonts and icons (Barlow, IBM Plex Mono, Noto Sans, Lucide).
